This week I’ve been struck with what I am calling the plague. Ok it’s not really the plague but I’m feeling terrible. Sinus infections always knock me out and this one is no different.
So while I’m healing and getting better on a diet of work proposals, trashy TV and tea, I’m wondering do you work out when you are sick?
I find I go in stages, if I’m chilled or just feeling a little blah I will still try to get in at least a walk or some crunches and planks. But if my head is pounding or I’m legitimately sick I tend to forget about working out and concentrate on getting better ASAP.
I’m always shocked when I work out next to an obviously sick person. My mom instinct kicks in a I want to immediately scoop them up, cover them with a blanket and get them some warm soup. Does this ever happen to you? Or an I alone in wanting to save sick people from themselves.
This week has been a FULL rest week, Monday was spent traveling back from my parents house, yesterday was spent in work and doctors appointments and today will be rest and relaxation. And I’m feeling very OK with it. Taking a rest isn’t a bad thing especially when your body is telling you it needs it. Our bodies do a lot for us, and letting it rest and catch up is a well deserved.
I saw on Facebook a friend of mine who JUST had a baby was looking for some new workouts to get back into it, and I just wanted to shake her! Your body just spent 10 months…yes it’s 10 months 40 weeks people (!) growing another human the least you can do for it as a thank you is give it 8-10 weeks of rest to adjust.
Trust me as someone who didn’t give my body the time it needed you don’t want to be fighting an infection with a 6 week old baby! Get some belly bands, wear them religiously and you will feel better. Sometimes you just need to relax. We are not hollywood starlettes we don’t have doctors sucking the fat out of us after we give birth so we can be back on set looking the “same” in a few weeks. Who would want that anyway?!
LADIES listen up I’m dropping some truth here! TAKE A REST! Also cut yourself some slack, we juggle a lot of balls it’s OK to take a break. For your sanity and well being it’s OK to take a rest.
Rant over now on to tangents 1, 2 & 3:
In other news have you seen this news reporter battle back against her bully? I give her a lot of credit she works in an industry that is so critical, I’m happy she stuck up for herself.
This e-card also made me chuckle today:
