First HAPPY BIRTHDAY to my little sister and a Happy Earth Day to all!
Oh Whole 30 in one week you have challenged me. You’ve been a worthy opponent. I’ve craved sugar and even got to experience the joys of withdrawal hot flashes at the ripe old age of 31. I honestly had no idea how this eating style would go but with one week down. I’m feeling pretty good.
So you ask what have you been eating? I kept it VERY simple the first week. I didn’t get much into recipes or complicated meals. Breakfast eggs with fruit, lunches were dinner left overs and dinners have contained lots of chicken, pork, baby cabbages and sweet potatoes. I’ve enjoyed making my own salsa’s, mayo and dressing. The prep for this program really is the key to success. You can’t fly by the seat of your pants. Your meals need to be planned ahead of time and ready to eat at a given time.
I’ve had my moments of udder loss and confusion but so far so good. It’s been odd to just eat 3 meals per day after being told for years you need many small meals and eating in that pattern. Cutting out the snacks though has significantly improved my time management. I no longer linger around my fridge at 3pm trying to think of a fun creative snack. There are no snacks and I’m not hungry anymore at 3pm – I LOVE IT!
I also discovered the joy that is Ghee! Get lost coconut oil….move into my heart sweet ghee. Food has never tasted better. Finally meat and eggs that don’t taste like horrible coconut!
I’m slowly getting some fire back in me. I ran a total of 8 miles last week which for me isn’t a lot but I’m also mixing it up with some really intense new to me functional fitness workouts. I’ve been doing some light yoga in the AM with foam rolling.
Strangely I can kinda tell I’ve lost weight. I threw out the scale a while ago so I just judge by my pants. Which seem a little roomier this week. My husband claims I’m less moody and this no struggle up at 6am stuff is FABULOUS. I’ve been catching up on some much crappy TV I can’t even control myself! Revenge, The Americans, Happy Endings, Mad Men, Real Housewives of where ever and Rachel Zoe. It’s been a stellar week for my workout/watch TV morning routine. I’m actually awake enough to get the jokes and be annoyed by Rachel!
I’m missing coffee creamer….. That’s a hard habit to break. Damn you Coffeemate what do you lace your creamer with?
I’m still giddy about my amazing sale find at Staples this weekend. Yes I will now be rocking documents with 80’s Glam sharpies! Those of you who follow me on instagram saw my excitement! I can’t wait to doodle in these hot shades. I know it’s just a marketing ploy but I was sold. I only write with sharpies, it’s a problem.
Question of the Day: Do you write with sharpies? What’s your favorite coffee creamer? Do you like ghee?
