Oooohhhh I forgot how rough the first few days of whole 30 can be….
As I type these words I’m experiencing a hot flash of sorts. My body telling my brain…hey brain we would really like some SUGAR over here, as my body gets all flush. Meanwhile my brain responds with “fools there will be no sugar for you today, nor any day for a long time…get over it”
My brain is really sassy. 😉
I guess this part would be the sugar detox. And for me is the biggest challenge in this program. I have a CRAZY sweet tooth, I like a little reward once in a while. But I also needed a bit of a reality check about how often I was “rewarding” myself. If I’m being honest I’ve gained back a few pounds and of course gained them in my middle. What I liked most about the Whole30 program was that it helped me lose weight in my middle which is a difficult place for me to lose from. Am I being vain? I’m sure I am but I’ve worked really hard to get to where I want to be and I can’t let poor diet choices keep me from my goals.
I know some people are like OMG how do you do Whole30 that’s horrible for you. Yet I feel like it was the first time that I really noticed how food affects me. My moods were more stable and I slept better. This time my goals are more about looks than feeling but I’m getting the benefits of both.
Breakfasts have been eggs, salsa and avocado with fruit.
Peppers and Chicken Salad are my new favorite lunch.
And my dinners have been either salads or burgers with fruit. Recipes will be coming this week I promise.
My energy is a bit zapped right now as my body adjusts. This first week is always rough on me. And of course I have my good friend flow this week too (sorry guys!) making my P90X classes a bit of a struggle. I hate not going and giving them my all but I’m just whipped.
See I told you it was going to get whiney up in here for a week or so 😉
Please cue the world’s smallest violin playing me a song…..
Or if you want check out this workout. It’s from the archives but is a favorite on pinterest. Complete each move for :45 seconds and 3-4 rounds.
Question of the Day: Do you notice that different foods and eating them affect you differently? Mood changes?
