This book arrived and no joke 2 hours later I had completed it. I’m not sure that I have ever finished a 300 pages book about food, digestion and body function that quickly. In fact I’m not sure I’ve ever finished a book about those topics. I guess this one appealed to me.
Every chapter basically had me agreeing that I had felt that way on more than one day/occasion after eating. My cliff notes version for you is basically SUGAR=SUGAR=SUGAR. And these days there is SUGAR in everything. Food is over processed and we should revert to a style of eating similar to our ancestors. I’m not big into fad diets at all, but after reading this book, I’m giving this one a chance.
When I started the #CuseFit2013 series it was the one topic that I kept hearing about and how life changing it can be. I am a cynic and was very skeptical about it. After all WHO doesn’t eat CARBS? Atkins…no WAY, not for me. I poo-pooed it on more than one occasion. But after listing to them talk of their own results and now reading the book. I’m interested in trying it out.
For the 30 days I will be eating a meal plan that is WHOLE30 approved or Paleo.
I’ve been scouring for recipes all weekend and I’m pretty excited about what I’ve found. It’s very similar to my base line diet. I don’t like the way pasta makes me feel after eating it so I almost completely removed it from my diet years go, so I won’t be missing those meals. Much to my husband’s dislike. Sadly there is no dairy on this program, no cheese or milk.
Yesterday was DAY ONE for me. For breakfast I didn’t really notice much of a difference. I ate 3 scrambled eggs, some strawberries and a black coffee.
Lunch was a ladies lunch date with some fabulous ladies and resisting an afternoon cocktail was pretty hard, I also had to have my salad sans cheese.
Dinner was some roasted chicken, Brussel spouts, sweet potatoes with a few strawberries.
Mind you my entire family is NOT joining me on this journey, so resisting their cheese pizza for dinner was KILLING ME. After reading about people’s results with this program I’m really focused on it just to see how I feel 30 days from now.
Sidenote: I don’t always mention my 2am-3am wake up calls, or that fact that almost everyday at 2pm I have a migraine that renders me useless for an hour on the blog. But lately I haven’t been feeling my best. I want to do this just to test out how food really does affect me, my mind, my mood, and my body. I had GD with my second son and severely altered my then pregnant eating habits. It was amazing to me then, how just cutting back on some of the garbage I was eating changed my whole attitude and energy levels.
The worst part for me on day one has been cooking dinner with coconut oil. I hate coconut. I have a serious aversion to it. To me it smells like tanning lotion but I think I can put it aside for 30 days?! I hope.
I’m giving myself the 30 days to see this program through. This Sunday I spent meal planning two menus .One for me and one for my family. I found great ways to make Dinners that meet my plan needs and also won’t disrupt what my husband expects to see on the table.
I may have bought 5 dozen eggs today at the grocery store…yummmm!
Look for my results and complete recap on May 14th. Until then I would image you can expect some slight bitching about my sweet cravings throughout the next 30 days. My recipes might look a little different than usual. And I’m told I might be a few grumpy for the next couple days. Goodbye sweet alcohol….we will meet again soon.
Question of the Day: Ok who has done this program? Tips? Likes/Dislike?
