When ever people ask me about losing weight and what did to lose the weight, I feel like one place I don’t give enough emphasis to is hydration. Among many changes to my lifestyle the first step was making sure I was hydrated.
My body had basically lost the ability to tell hunger from thirst. I can’t remember a time prior to starting my weight loss that I ever gave a second thought to the amount of water I drank in a day. Heck coffee is water right?
When you start to see how your body performs you start to pay more attention to details and for me hydration was one of those details. I feel better when I’m hydrated. No more dull headaches, yawns or endless hunger. My body doesn’t struggle through longer cardio and I feel more alert.
Water also has tons of other body functions that can often improve with increased water consumption. I’ve been a little off my water game in the past few weeks. I kept leaving my water bottle at home and with out the visual reminder I need to be drinking when I’m working it often gets forgotten about.
And my favorite water bottle is currently the one I’ve been taking to work.
Which means I get home and don’t have it available for easy access either. Seriously I can’t my brain in gear to bring it (to work or home) and back and forth.
I decided I need to have a water bottle for each location and I ended up picking up this infusion water bottle from Femme Fitale Fit Club. It has an infusion basket for making flavored waters. I used to have a water bottle like this that my best friend bought me but the top broke and I’ve been on the hunt for a new one!
I might have bought an entire bag of lemons from Bj’s to really kick off my hydration goals. I’m shooting for 94 ounces a day on rest days and about 120 on busy workout days. There is a helpful way to measure how much water you should be drinking. It’s based on weight and activity level you can find here.
In order to accomplish my water drinking goals, I’m getting creative with my “spa” waters. I’ve bought the lemons and I’m also experimenting with basil, blueberries, cucumbers, mint, strawberries and other random varieties of fruits and veggies.

I’ve also discovered that working in a dry office can promote dehydration and of course some of us spend more time in the sun in the summer months which can also dry us out. Be sure your hydrating enough each and everyday, especially if you are active or your weight loss journey.
Water is a key to wellness. Be sure you are giving your body all it needs each day!

Question of the Day: How do you drink more water throughout the day? Do you have a special water bottle?
