Rarely we get to enjoy a slow no plans Saturday, there is always a race or hockey or something planned. I woke up this morning with NO plans it’s even a scheduled rest day!! I quickly remembered seeing signs around town for a wellness day event at Vernak Farms Country Store and knew there was nothing to stop us from checking it out.
Up until this point I have only had a garlic pizza from Vernak and it was DELICIOUS.
Once we arrived first up was LUNCH! The boys were starving and they rarely cooperate when hungry. They had pizza while Troy and I both ordered wraps. My picture does not do this Buffalo Chicken wrap justice but anytime a sandwich arrives with jalapenos on the side you know it’s going to be good! We also split some deviled eggs.
After lunch we headed outside and visited all the local booths. There were yoga and TRX demonstrations as well as cooking demos and speakers.
I was excited to learn that a local CSA farm has launched an EGG SHARE! Marigold Farms now has an available egg share. I joke around here that I should just get my own chickens since buying eggs three dozen a week for a family of 4 looks crazy but we LOVE eggs.
I also got the chance to pick up fresh strawberries from Strawberry Fields and taste some of their new honey offerings. We also learned all about a locally grown organic meat farm but of course like a fool I lost their card and now I am forced to wonder and search the internet for them. She had bacon!! WHOLE30 approved BACON! I’m kicking myself for the that slip up! I’m hoping it turns up in another bag?
We also sampled Paleo Bars and learned about some area workout offerings including yoga, pilates, Warrior Fitness (from my friends at Pine Grove) and TRX.
It was a great little local event! I found some new local offerings I didn’t know about and now have a few more options for shopping local. I’m happy we had the chance to check it out.
I also got a T-shirt on the way out for giving them a “like” on facebook! The social media marketer in me smiled when I was asked! They even had an iPad set up for easy access!
If you would like to learn more about Vernak Farms you can give them a like here yourself.
Question of the day: Do you belong to a CSA of any kind? Pros/Cons?
