**Congratulations to my Ocean Spray Winner Nicki Wright Conroy! Send me a message at Reneebenda at me dot com to collect your prize!**
This month has been pretty whirlwind and now is a good time to collect and gather! And of course fill you in on what the heck has been happening over here behind the scenes of Bendiful! Normally at the end of the month I re-cap my goals and share with you the progress. August just came at me like a band of spider monkeys and has yet to stop!
I started off the month by trying out a new gym Burn City CrossFit. How did it go? You can read the posts here. If I’m being honest with myself I didn’t give this the chance it needed. The husband was out-of-town for work the better half of the month and finding a sitter once fall sports have started at 5pm is IMPOSSIBLE for me. I loved my time there and met some amazing people! If you are in the area definitely check them out!
Which leads directly into what else has been going on in August!
Most of you know I teach aqua aerobics but starting this September I’m moving into other aerobics classes! I’m so excited for this opportunity to teach at my Local YMCA! They have given me a ton of the years and now I get to (in my own way) repay the universe.
Who is excited? This girl is excited:
….And nervous, and scared and intimidated and giddy! Here on the blog I share so much of my journey to healthy and weight loss, now I’ll get a chance to share it in another way! I have been frantically reading, and learning and shadowing and training.
Last night I had the chance to teach my first spin class! Thank you to the ladies of the class for bearing with me as I fumbled, miscues and breathed heavy into the mic. It actually went pretty well and I learned a lot! I thought my nerves would get the best of me and I would forget everything but I kept it together. On the outside The mic placement will be a big learning curve for me. I like wearing it and not having to shout over the music, but I wasn’t expecting it to pick up breathing! Hear that panting? That’s your nervous instructor!
I’ve been combing over music and ideas for these classes. I think I might be over thinking it, but for now that’s helping calm the nerves! I’m pretty sure itunes thinks I’m bipolar based on my recent downloads. I turned into a 14-year-old girl over night and am now rocking out to every upbeat top 40 hit on record. Is top 40 even a thing anymore? How I date myself!
I’m trying to figure out if there is a way to do a complete Pearl Jam 1 hour spin class? Where there is a will, there is a way right? Would you be up for an hour of Pearl Jam on a spin bike?
I figure I could just play Hail, Hail and Not for You on repeat and throw in Wishlist at the end Maybe a little Low Light and Spin the Black Circle? It’s going to be a thing I promise! Maybe just a one time thing but a thing none the less.
I’m fairly comfortable with Spin. I’ve been going to spin classes since 2003. I love the pace and the burn. I’m also getting my saddle butt back on.
Kickboxing is very new to me. I’m enjoying learning the punch styles, kick styles and combinations. In the manual it actually talks about people being empowered by kickboxing but it doesn’t mean they should take these skills to the street! Hahaha! That was my first thought after the class. I want to pick a fight in a parking lot! I might be in trouble teaching it.
I’ve been enjoying some fun runs this month with my new little running buddy Bella.
It’s almost impossible now to get a shot of her not in motion. She’s getting soooo big, and even though she has eaten up a few things for the most part she is a perfect puppy and a great addition to our family. Also note the paw… she always puts ONE paw on you when you are near her.
Even in the car she puts one paw on the boys or on me depending on where she is sitting. It is like puppy hand holding!
I clocked 30 miles this month. It’s not crazy mileage but I’ll take it. A few 6 milers but most of them are 2 mile bursts with Bella.
Coming up for September. I am back to another 90 days of P90X!
I also hope to get back into the kitchen it’s been a while since I went crazy recipe creation! Not to say I haven’t been cooking. I’ve been enjoying our little harvest from the garden. This is one of my favorite dishes to use up tomatoes and zucchini! You can find the recipe here.
September is also back to school for both of my little guys! I’m sad they will both be in some sort of school but happy that I might find a minute or two of mommy time!
Questions of the Day: What is a class you would love to teach? What do you have planned for the weekend, or for September?
