Hey there strangers! I swear things are starting to settle down around here. (I think?) We moved into our new house and slowly but surely as we start to unpack boxes and settle in… it’s beginning to feel like home. I’ll warn you now this is a meandering post….buckle up.
I love a good morning coffee on the deck and I’ve even had time to read blogs and catch up on non-work e-mails again…who am I? It’s been a long few months and I’m so happy that we are starting to see the light at the end of the tunnel. This weekend we spent a lot of time moving more things… it never ends…our old house is under contract but doesn’t have a hard close so we are slowly making our way from one to the other…it sounds good in theory but is actually driving me crazy. I need a knife but wait it is at the old house… I need a clothes hamper but wait it’s at the old house.. I do this at least twice a day.
My new kitchen though is amazing…and just makes me want to cook, and cook and cook and cook…
That is something I have missed tremendously. It’s funny when you get out of certain habits which ones you miss the most. For me it’s usually cooking and the gym…
I missed family dinners! And it wasn’t even just that I needed and missed them, it was almost like a chunk of my life was missing. I love cooking food with, and for my family. Processed food just makes me feel like crap and there is nothing rewarding about throwing a pizza in an oven. I know they work when you’re short on time, and trust me, I get it, for the past 2 months we’ve been living on them. But there is something so much more satisfying about preparing a delicious meal from ingredients you mold yourself. Maybe I’m crazy but I missed cooking…almost as much as I’ve missed workouts.
And right in the middle of our move and upheaval my brave big guy turned 10… I haven’t really had any time to process and it still doesn’t quite seem real. 10 years ago we brought this little miracle into the world?!
I have no words for my little guy turning double digits so let’s move on…as tears well up.
The first thing we set up at the new house was the gym mostly because it’s been all over the place at our old house since our remodel. Some equipment went to the garage and some went to a front room but it was EVERYWHERE and one of our must haves in a new house was a dedicated space for a home gym.
The walk out basement seemed like the perfect place but it needed some work. Here’s how it looked when we moved things in:
Then we decided it needed a good cleaning and some wall paint:
And then two hours later…we finished painting the walls:
We still have work to-do…. the floors to be redone and the ceiling needs to be replaced with new lighting but not bad for one days work! It already looks so much better and makes me giddy to get my TRX straps up and use it!
This week I also finally made it back to yoga… it’s been two weeks. I swear I don’t where time is going lately. Summer Solstice yoga with Sky Yoga at polo field in Skaneateles was perfect. It was an amazing evening and I’m so happy it worked with my schedule (yea me!) An incredible 1.5 hour long sun salutations like you wouldn’t believe practice packed with adjustments and great karma. It was the practice my soul has needed for a while. There was sun, there was nature, and it was filled with some of my most favorite yogis.
Now I just need to turn these practices back into routine rather than once in a whiles….oh life get in line with my goals already. 😉
Question of the Day: So I’ve been away… tell me everything you’ve been up too!
