I survived day one of school break. It  was a challenge but I survived it .With two boys and mommy flush with work to be done. My day was a large dose of crazy. This e-card sums it up well:

I should know better than to ever say “this is going to be a nice slow week” that is just asking for trouble! I prepped up my dinners on Sunday and it’s a good thing that I got that out-of-the-way. Because the rest of this week has been a whirlwind.

Yesterday I got a 20 minute yoga session in at the break of dawn and called it a day. Sadly due to a scheduling conflict I didn’t get in the session for CuseFit this week but it will be coming!

Today has been slightly time crunched as well so instead of hitting the gym in the AM, I instead fit in fitsugar! If you aren’t familiar with Fitsugar let me happily introduce you. I like to use it in a pinch.  It’s a great way to get a quick exercise in when my brain is too tired to think of one. Plus I really like the variety in the offerings.

The site is full of great articles and workouts! Some are short workout even just 10 minutes.

Today I completed this:

Life sometimes can get in the way of our fitness goals. I’ll be the first to admit there are days when I just want to give up and nothing is going right. It’s important to remember though that even 30 minutes a day can be broken out into 10 minute segments!

Speaking of breaking out your workouts. My son is having his 9th surgery this month. It will actually be next week sometime so I’ve been stressed to the max getting ready for it. Instead of letting myself get all anxious and nervous. I’m turning my anxiety into a positive.  Next Tuesday February 26th I’m going to host a Squat-a-Thon!

What is this challenge you ask? I participated in one of these back in January and it was a lot of fun! Each hour from 9-5 you take one minute and compete squats. No matter how fast or how slow you go you are guaranteed to get in at least 8 heart healthy minutes during your work day!

Ok so I know not everyone works 9-5….. so make it work for you. Take 8 minutes in your day to do something great for your heart! Your body will thank you.

Follow along  on facebook  and on twitter with the hashtag #squatfor8. I’m not having an official sign up but there may be a final prize winner ;)

Question of the Day: Are you taking the challenge to Squat for 8?

Thank you Joy for the thoughts and prayers we appreciate them. My oldest son was born with Rapp Hogkins Syndrome so we’ve had a lot of surgeries to repair his clef palate and other nasal/mouth abnormalities. He’s my VERY brave, super tough little man! This is a dental surgery and it’s out patient. So it should be “routine” for us. I’m getting a little more brave here talking about it.
