Good Morning Sunshine’s!
This week as has been a crazy one! Is it Friday yet? I made this to-do list on Monday and am realizing I need to add about 30 things to it rather than remove any.
I’m all about pressure I find I do my best work when I’m challenged. Now I might be crazy but my first career was in sales and I loved the pace of it, quick burst of crazy work pace then a calm
maybe calm moment or two then back to the grind. I flourish in crazy
Honestly though I’m not sure how everyone does all they do with only 24 hours in a day. Now notice on my sheet there is no mention of cleaning my house which Monday- Friday looks a lot like down town Bagdad, maybe worse. I’ve dealt with the fact that a perfectly clean organized house like what we had sans children is no longer a reality and am coming to terms with what that means.
But I still need to make some better attempts at keeping up. That’s the thing people never talk about, how overwhelming it is to be a household where both parents work 40+ hour a week jobs.
Maybe some people handle it better than me but I find most days I’m running around C-R-A-Z-Y!
My days look like this Monday -Friday:
- 6am- or earlier wake up
- 6am-7am- Workout/breakfast/blog/shower get dressed
- 7am-7:45am- get the boys ready for school
- 7:45am – Daycare drop off/commute
- 8:30am-5pm- Day Job
- 5:45pm- Prep dinner/eat/run/gym/familytime
- 7:30pm- Bathtime
- 8pm- Kids bed time (ok sometimes this is much later!) but we shoot for 8pm
- 9pm-10:30pm- Maybe free time probably not
- 11pm- Bed
And this is just the generic version it doesn’t show, sports schedules, my husbands night class schedule or any of the 500 other things that can blow up during the day. And I’ve always considered us an unscheduled family. Typing that out though just made me cringe a little that my dedicated child enrichment time is pretty light. I’m working on that though, teaching my son to read has really showed me how I should be spending more of my time. He loves it and I love it! I’m working on a post for later about activities with toddler boys ( if you have ANY suggestions send them my way!)
It’s important to stop once in a while midstream and show some appreciation. (am I right?) This week even though my to-do list is getting out of control, I’m doing just that!
I’ve been seeing on pinterest Sunshine boxes you send to people to just make their day. So I decided to try one out.I remember the joy of care packages when in college and how one box full of random goodies could make your entire week!
First of all finding small yellow items in a store may sound super easy. Sadly it is not! But I managed to come up with some cute things!
Behold my first Sunshine box:
Rather than using yellow tissue paper, I chose to be GREEN and instead bought a yellow running shirt. I know the recipient of my sunshine box can use. I am sending this to a good friend who I don’t see as often as she just started nursing school. I filled the box with cram session snacks, highlighters and of course the world’s brightest running shirt! I think she’ll love it!
Workout: 2.11 miles run in 20 minutes on the treadmill this morning. I wish it was more exciting but it was a bit of a late start at the house this morning. 20 minutes is better than nothing
How do you slow down during the week or anytime? Have you ever sent out a sunshine box or something similar? Also if you have any ideas for activities with toddlers let me know!
