Seriously weekend…where are you going? It is Sunday night and we are finally letting our feet have a rest. Please read along as this fitness blog turns into a home and living blog for a hot second, then gets back to food.
Saturday started off busy with my little guy scoring his FIRST soccer goal of the year!!
Nothing eases the pain of 8:30am soccer game likes a big cup of pumpkin spice coffee! After another soccer victory and catching a quick bite to eat it was off to help some family move furniture. If there is one profession I would be HORRIBLE at it is professional mover. I can NOT navigate large furniture and can only partially handle small furniture. Once we were all warmed up from moving other people’s stuff around we decided it would be a great time to go get our own.
A new to us fridge! OMG you have no idea how excited this has made me. I don’t really talk about our home much but maybe a quick back story would help you understand my strange giddiness! Our home was built in 1894…YES that is an 1800 date. It’s an OLD house filled with all the charms that come with a house of this age. Please keep in mind we added a shower to our home when we moved in since there wasn’t one…if you are gasping right now, Hold tight I could BLOW YOUR MIND with other housing wonders!
The fabulous thing about our house is it is the perfect house to have projects in. We have torn down sheds, porches, walls and have repainted more than I care to think about. And there is still sooooo much more to do! It’s our super fun project, that with children is nearly impossible to ever get done. I love reading YoungHouseLove mainly because I want to know how they get that stuff all done with a child? Their adventures in housing put ours to SERIOUS shame but I love following their journey!
For months Troy and I have been talking about what we really want to do to our house. We’ve been here now long enough to have a feel for the home and how we like to live in it. This from the couple who has switched their living room from one room to another at least once a year. (guys I think this year we have a winner ;))
My issue with a complete remodel is this is an older home and deserves some respect. I can’t install a bunch of granite counter tops and go nutty with lots of super modern update because it wouldn’t fit the character of the rest of the house. Please note my TINY fridge in this photo, we are a family of four this fridge is hard. See I was GIDDY to get a bigger one?
I know we want new flooring and I would love to make the colors really fresh and bright. I have been watching Sara’s kitchen remodel closely since her style would be fabulous in my kitchen. Ooooorrr I want a FULL on complete retro style with all the charm that the place deserves. When we moved in we painted in these Tuscan colors with greens/red/oranges and I’m finding it’s not a look I’m loving anymore. I really want to lighten it up. We can double the size of our kitchen by removing another wall, and I’m looking forward to a new layout!
Lots to think about……
We also finally bit the bullet and bought a new mattress for our bed! Thank you Christopher Columbus for the deals on Mattresses? I kept seeing commercials for bedding sales over the weekend. And who would have thought advertising worked on me? I can’t wait to enjoy my firsts night sleep on the new bed tonight.
Weekend Mantra? #treatyoself
In other news I’m back to my second journey of WHOLE30 starting tomorrow. I know, I know I said the 15th but why start on Tuesday what I can start on a Monday…. amiright? 😉
That is another reason I was giddy to get the new refrigerator to fill with
beer all the fruits and veggies I’ll need for the week with extra space for other foods!
I’ve been making my meal plans and finding new recipes to try that I will be sharing along the way just like last time.
Goodbye dairy, goodbye bread, goodbye processed foods….it’s been swell.
I’m off to watch season 4 of the Walking Dead!! I’ve missed those crazy zombies since they’ve been gone.
Question of the Day: Are you a home Remodeler? Does my weekend fitness of heavy lifting furniture count as workouts? Are you watching The Walking Dead?
