Happy St. Patrick’s Day! You can all punch me sadly I’m not rocking any green and am being a horrible Irish girl. It’s been a long weekend and I’m just enjoying lounging around this later/afternoon evening. This will be a rambling post about the weekend settle in
I spent the weekend at the hockey rink watching not my son but my husband play! It was a nice change. After their first game Friday Night we headed out to a friend’s house for some celebratory drinks and to watch a combination of the SU Basketball game and the Fliers/Devils Game. Ok really we watched the DVR hockey game and I skimmed twitter for basketball scores. Such is life for a basketball loving hockey wife.
From the stands we lovingly referred to Troy’s team as the bad news bears but they kicked some butt in their early games but just didn’t have the man power for the last game, Saturday Night. (Troy is the first one on the left) It’s hard to play a team of 16 when you only have 2 subs. By the beginning of the 3rd period the other team gave 4 players, it was some pretty serious sportsman like conduct and nice to see in a tournament. Great job guys!
In between games on Saturday my youngest and I took in the Home and Garden Show. It was a great show as usual. B was making friends left and right. He really wanted to buy this guy for our backyard but I wasn’t sold on it.
I really liked the hot tubs and garden sets ups! Plus I got some great new ideas for our possible kitchen makeover that might be coming up soon! (here’s to hoping!)
Our weekends plans were severely altered when Troy got word they were playing in the hockey tournament. My plan was to run a local-ish Shamrock 5 miler But with his 2 games on Saturday I wasn’t going to have time to make the trip. Instead after walking around the home show two hours with the little man. I came home and put some miles on the treadmill.
Which is fine by me since I’m going to count the distance as my Jelly Bean 10k Virtual Run:
I took splits on a 5k, 5 miler and 10k.
I love treadmill running on days like yesterday. I found my stride and just kept it loose. I’d take a street 57 minute 10k any day. My new sneakers like to RUN! Which is good since next Sunday is my the first of 13 half marathons this year. #13for2013 I’m hoping it will be a somewhat nice day for event. The course map keeps changing and this close to a race that makes me nervous. It’s the inaugural run so fingers crossed they know what they are doing. There is nothing worse than a poorly planned expensive run.
I’m also excited to report that the new sneakers seem to have solved my hip issues from last weekends long run. I clocked 20 miles this week and my hip is feeling no pain! Cheers to new shoes!
Today has been pretty low-key. A quick Hockey Game this morning, as my brother-in-law’s team made it to the cross over game of the tournament, but they lost.
Then we went and saw Oz the Great and Powerful which I expected to be silly, but it was pretty good.
It also inspired us to come home and watch original The Wizard of Oz again. My youngest was really concerned about that green monster witch 😉
Since we are somewhat Irish we also rocked some Corned Beef and Brussels for dinner. And I’m thinking about having some adult beverages. My kind of St. Patrick’s Day.
Sunday is normally meal planning day for the week but since my kids won’t have school tomorrow I’m giving myself an extra day to prep tomorrow. And today is a true rest day no food prep, no cleaning and no excercise, just rest.
Question of the day: How was your weekend?
