This weekend is what I am dubbing registration weekend! Some of my favorite races opened up their online registrations this weekend including the Boilermaker 15k today and the Mountain Goat 10 miles tomorrow!
This is also my favorite time to really start planning out my run race schedule for the year. I can’t believe how full it is already. Normally by this point I’ve signed up for ONE 5k and called it a day. This year I’ve made a commitment to 13 Half Marathons (13.1) which could really throw a wrench into my shorter runs. I’m again skipping some more popular shorter runs in favour of some longer runs.
Here are the plans thus far:
Today I made sure to get into the Utica Boilermaker since even at 14,000 runners it often sells out quickly! I can’t wait to run this race again this year. Hopefully I’ll be in better condition than last year. This race is a lot of fun. It’s really flat and the crowds really get into the run.
Mountain Goat! With any luck I’ll be able to hammer out this run since it really sets the tone for the rest of the summer. It’s 10 challenging and hilly miles but again it’s one of my favorites. I’m hoping this year to get in some training runs that are held on parts of the course.
New this year the Syracuse Half Marathon in March! While I’m not crazy about this course. It will force me to complete one scheduled half marathon! Sadly this may bump off my schedule one of my favorite runs out-of-town. The Watertown YMCA Shamrock Run. We shall see.
Also opening this weekend is registration for the More Magazine/ Fitness Magazine Women’s Half-Marathon in NYC. I’m hesitant to sign up for this without a buddy but I think my running partner is warming up to the idea!
So after Sunday I plan to be broke for a few weeks…the good news is running doesn’t cost me a thing, other than race registrations! 😉
It’s 50 degrees out here today so I’m off to take the boys for a nice walk outside, how are you enjoying your Saturday?
