It was a great Father’s Day weekend! The boys and I spent some of it at my parents house. The kids were super excited about cake! My brother and my big guy have the same birthday! Hence the 30 on the cake!
While the kids practiced wearing sunglasses because their futures are so bright the “adults” decided to hit the town and celebrate. It’s not often my brother is home from China and turning 30!
I’m not sure what we walked into but at one bar there was obviously something going on later? There was a crown and this weird display so we took FULL Advantage of being the only people in the place!
(don’t mind the red eyes I can’t fix them!)
After our evening of fun. It was time to get in some exercise! I had planned on completing a 5 miler in the morning but my brain wasn’t having it. Instead we took out the kayaks for some white water fun!
Safety first…please note we are NOT yet close to the water and I’m already suited up! My dad and I getting ready to go.
And my brother wearing in his words “the best and only pair of sneakers I will ever buy again!” Before we headed down to the water.
I will admit I was a little nervous for this trip. As we drove we watched the river and there were some rapids and white caps which you really don’t want to see on a casual kayaking trip. My brother though assured all of us it was fine he had done it before. There were some moments when I really just thought don’t tip over the water is cold! And luckily I made it through the whole trip in my kayak! My dad however was not so lucky. He was a good sport though.
The first kayak journey was about 3 miles, the good news was the water levels were higher than usual so we moved right along. When it didn’t take as long as we thought. We packed up and hit another river in the area.
I have to say that’s one thing I miss about living in the North Country just picking up and hitting a river is a simple task. Where we will there are just too many people around!
Our next trip was about a mile and a half. It was really smooth no caps, and just enough current to keep it comfy!
It was a GREAT day with family we had some laughs, got to see some beautiful scenery and of course enjoyed an absolutely beautiful day!
The best part of the weekend for my little guys was yet to come! You may be wondering “Hey where is your husband?” Well he has been working like a crazy man, but was also working on the boys Father’s Day gift.
Our boys have wanted a dog FOREVER. We had been holding off since we knew we wanted the perfect pup for our family and that’s nothing to rush into. And we were holding off till we were done with babies, that way our puppy could be our only baby!
After months of looking and calling and contacting and all the fun that goes into picking out a dog, we are pleased to introduce to you to baby Bella!
Bella is a 9 week old Yellow Lab, who we welcomed to the family yesterday!
Needless to say the boys are ecstatic and my husband and I are pretty smitten too. It will be a while but I can’t wait to have a fun new running buddy.
This was the scene at 5am this morning, I think someone likes having a dog! He slept next to the crate last night!
I’m off and running this morning with lots of projects and some classes! Have a great day!
Question of the Day: How was your weekend?
