On my to-do list for-ever has been to check out the community classes offered by Lululemon. For some reason I just haven’t been able to get the gusto to get to one (cough, cough hockey, and summer hockey and things, cough excuses) After some long weeks without much in the way of challenging workouts, I came across a late night instagram post that the new coming soon Orange Theory would be hosting a sampler class with lulu that Sunday and BOOM! I had all the motivation I needed to get to class…and I didn’t have more excuses for not attending. And I’m so happy I made it.
Working out in a mall….now I think I’ve done it all. The Orange Theory ladies put us through the ropes in a super fun always moving workout. We had 5 stations that each had 8 minutes of partner work. I met some fantastic ladies right at the beginning who were already Orange Theory Members (they open in May in Dewitt) who took me in as an orphan
We made the bad choice to start at a station with scaling mountain climbers and crunches. Have I mentioned lately how much I detest mountain climbers? Especially those of the toe touch variety. Ugh! I wasn’t sure I would survive those first 8 minutes but after some fun runs in between and another 4 stations of heart pumping action I can honestly say it was one of the best workouts I’ve had in a while. I love body weight workouts to begin with but this brought it to a whole new heart pumping level.
Every inch of my body got more than I bargained for…there were burpees and squat jumps and sprints and planks. My arms actually hurt typing this from push ups and plank taps .The above photo was the after shot, what a sweat fest. The ladies from Orange Theory were FULL of energy and quite motivating. I can’t wait to check out the studio once it’s open. If only I could convince people to open these fun gym options on the West side of Syracuse… I’m not sure if I earned any splat points but the whole workout was a push out of my comfort zone!
The best part of the event was FINALLY meeting Hannah in real life, we’ve been following each other for what feels like years on instagram but always missed each other at all our gym overlaps. Hannah will be teaching at Orange Theory which is another FANTASTIC reason to check them out when they open.
Although I didn’t get a picture Original Grain also hosted a breakfast afterwords in the store. And I swear their chia pudding is made with angel tears it tastes soooo good! Mine never comes out as well as theirs.
Don’t tell my husband but I did spoil myself with a fantastic pair of lulu running shorts. Summer will be here before we know it and since I never get to shop alone it was the perfect time to pick out something fun for myself.
Thanks to OT, Lulu and Original Grain for a fabulous Sunday Morning. If you are local and interested in learning more about the community classes being offered by Lulu check out their facebook page here. And if you are interested in checking out the ALL new Orange Theory Fitness of Syracuse visit them here.
I’m just over here hoping my legs allow me to walk upstairs like a normal person today…fit or not it’s always incredible what a slightly different workout can do for your muscles. A good reminder to always shake it up!
Question of the Day: Have you checked out an Orange Theory yet?
