This morning I woke up with one mission. MAKE IT TO YOGA PRACTICE! It’s been pretty yoga light around here lately. Normally I wake up and hang out for a little while with Rodney Yee, nothing crazy but a quick 12 minute session is the best way to start the day. We are getting tight, like tight enough I almost know what sun salutation is coming next. But not tight enough that I’m not still a little freaked out by him working out alone in a desert. (it might be time to buy a new DVD)
But lately my morning routine has strayed from a quick yoga session to getting up with the sun with my children who have turned into morning people. And if you have children you know it is impossible to practice yoga with them in sight. My children believe that a warrior posse is code for come see if you can tackle mommy to the ground. It’s hard to relax and focus on breathing when you’re in high alert of a possible attack. 😉 I love those little men I’m raising but they put a large damper on quiet peaceful activities.
This morning I left all the troops asleep in their beds and took in a class. My hamstrings and hips have been so tight lately, it’s almost sad to admit I’ve been neglecting them as much as I have been. The quiet peaceful hour and fifteen minute class was just what I needed. I felt like a new person when I left. Check out those flip-flop tan lines! There is NO better way to start a Sunday morning.
It has been crazy hot around these parts. Like ew gag me ridiculous hot. And I like heat, I just don’t love humid. The heat spell broke yesterday and it was great to finally get some work done around the house. We spent a lot of our day walking through home improvement stores.
The good news is the garage is almost back to normal and our new mailbox is installed! For the past few months I could tell if the mail had come yet by looking through the rust hole in the back of it! Ouch, it needed to be replaced a month ago but we kept putting it off. It felt good to cross it off the to-do list. I talk like I had a lot to do with this, but really I’m an expert watcher. Troy works hard and I hold nails.
I’m feeling pumped and ready for my day and I’m 100% there is going to be a second workout in my future. That’s the benefit of Namaste in the morning there is time for something else later in the day!
Question of the day: When is your favorite time to take a yoga class?
