Over the course of time and especially in the last few weeks I have been bombarded with “urban legends” that people are trying to pass off as truths. While I have absolutely no idea if the Nessy really exists in the lock ness, I know for a fact she isn’t purple. UFO’s….sure why the heck not! Is swimming or running a better calorie burn? Honestly it depends on the person. Here are some other Myths I’m debunking today:
1. I can’t workout because I don’t belong to a gym (MY favorite!)
While belonging to a gym may make it easier to mentally focus on the task at hand. In NO way shape or form MUST you belong to a gym to workout. Some of my favorite workouts are done at home with no gym required. This is an excuse to not workout. A FULL and complete MYTH. Looking for workouts that don’t require a gym here are just a few: No Gym No Problem, Body Weight, Full Body Blast, Bring your Own Ball.
2. I don’t have the time (MY 2nd favorite!)
Unless it is work related this is a MASSIVE myth. Everyone I know has the same amount of hours and minutes in a given day. It’s HOW we choose to spend our time that is the issue. Would I rather watch an hour of TV over working out? YES and I do it, but I don’t do it everyday. Once or twice a week I choose an hour of something else over a workout. And there was a time when I never worked out, I didn’t even consider the option. Those days I felt horrible and unmotivated. Now I make the time for my workouts because it enhances the rest of the hours in my day. Granted when my children were younger it was HARD to make the time and events would always happen to destroy even my best laid plans but I did the best I could.
3. I’m SOOOOO BUSY
MYTH. Please just read this.
4. Miley is just going through a phase.
Sure every time I go through a phase I stick my tongue out strangely on TV and swing on big balls naked…who doesn’t? I’m going just going to say, See Britney Spears 2007. Ok I have no idea if this is a myth 😉
5. Everyone is so perfect on Facebook!
Myth….Hahahahahha…yes perfect! That’s exactly how I would describe it. Let’s be honest most people don’t post photos of the most awful moments of their lives and post them on facebook or share them on social media. No those are simply the highlight reels. The best of the best. We all have bad days and sadly most everyone I know still has to use the bathroom for themselves (what else can’t you hire someone else to do?) so stop playing the comparison game you are fabulous!
6. I can’t get in a great workout.
Yes, a woman actually once told me she couldn’t get in a good workout at the gym because her gym is full of old people. I SAY MYTH BUSTED! Last time I checked your workout is YOURS. Find the motivation within yourself to give it your all. Set realistic goals, I want to run XX miles in XX time, I want to lift XXlbs. It’s easy to not be focused and pushed at the gym when you don’t have a goal. Write it down. Not everyday can be a beast mode day, but know your triggers. Also note: Non scale victories can be just as motivating as scales!
7. You can’t eat Cake for Breakfast
FALSE…life is short sometime we MUST eat cake for breakfast! Sure it’s not the healthiest breakfast but everything in moderation my friends!
