There comes a time when you just need a change-up. If you have been working out steadily and are looking to shake up your workout look no further than the medicine ball. Mose people see these balls and think Wall Balls but I’ve got some other moves sure to give you the same burn without staring blankly at a wall for 15 minutes 😉
It looks pretty non threatening but the medicine ball packs a punch of a workout! The ball can be used both as weight and as an apparatus. Balls come in a variety of weights I’ve seen anywhere from 4 -30 pounds. I’m using an 8 pound ball today. For these movements I suggest a lighter ball, especially for the side planks.
Planking on this ball is the hardest move of them all for me, forcing the abs to steady the body takes concentration and balance. In the work out below I demonstrate the hands on the ball version but can also try a toe on the ball version as well.
Complete each move for :45 and rest :15 before starting the next move. After the first set complete 2:00 minutes of cardio (this can be running, jogging, elliptical, jumping jacks whatever your go to cardio is). After the cardio begin set 2 and repeat for set 3.
PLEASE NOTE—> This workout is suggested for advanced users since we have added weight and some instability. I will post a beginner workout tomorrow. As always I am NOT a doctor and I don’t play one on TV so please consult with a physician before beginning a new exercise routine!
Question of the day: Do you use the medicine ball?
