My summer lovin’ has been a little limited this year. Typically in the summer, the lack of little boys hockey leaves me plenty of time to take in new to me classes, run new races and all sorts of fitness things. But obviously this summer has been a little different. Instead of spending time at the gym, I’ve sort of been spending more time at flea markets and home goods stores while concentrating on at home workouts in the new gym we’ve created.
Can I tell you how happy having TRX straps at my use anytime I want has made me? I better be jacked by the end of the summer.
I want to do a house tour for you guys of the new pad but we still have rooms that are basically empty so that would be an odd tour… I need an interior decorator.
I’m jealous of all of you that have an eye for that kind of stuff, I look around and have NO ideas, then I go on Pinterest and realize, I have no idea what my style aesthetic is? I don’t like rustic (but I like the above buffet), I don’t like farm-house, I don’t care for industrial modern but I do like clean, what ever that means. Hopefully by fall I will be able to have more of an idea of what I want our house to look like. The only room I’m somewhat happy with is the office and it still needs some work. But here it is thus far… It still needs some better lighting and the cords covered but it’s progress.
The other fun thing I’ve been doing is refilling all our cupboards. We cleaned everything out as we knew the move was coming, so now I’m slowly replenishing stock piles. That is equally fun and frustrating. I did take an awesome trip to Traders Joe’s:
This stuff is sweet heaven, it literally goes on EVERYTHING. And I bought half of the store as well along with more cookie butter just because.
Speaking of cooking. Our weekend mornings looks a little different from what it used to, we always used to go out for breakfast Sunday mornings it was literally the one thing we could count on. It was our morning off from worrying about what everyone was eating and gave us a little time to hang out. Our new kitchen though has spurred some new traditions that I’m digging.
We’ve been cooking together as a family on Sunday mornings. My husband is actually watching cooking video and mastering his skills. These are things we never would have done at the old house and my heart is bursting with all the new traditions we are creating here. I had no idea a new neighborhood in the same town we had lived in for years could be such a blessing.
I’ve been using the my fitness pal app for the past few weeks to track all of my eats. My friend Darcy mentioned that she uses it and it was a good time to get back to journaling my intake. I’m loving it, I added my fitbit to it so all the data is combined in one area. And it gives me on the go access to what my day is like and when I’m feeling like I want to eat a bunch of crap on a bad day, the app reminds me… it’s a bad day not a bad life. I need that reinforcement. Is anyone else using this app, I know I’m late to the game but it’s been a big game changer for me.
And workouts… OMG I’m doing them… Who knew a home gym would lead to actually workouts? Tony Horton and I are back to being best frienemies and it feels good.
I hope you all are having a wonderful first day of the week and it’s warmer where you are than it is here…I swear it feels like fall.
Question of the Day: What are you up to this week? Homework outs vs. gym workouts which do you like better?
