Ugh! I never realized how incredibly busy you can be for a wedding that A. you are not in but your child and husband are and B. is on a Friday. I guess the best thing about my wedding was it went by so fast that I don’t really remember much of the drama leading up to it. I had a ton of help from my mom and sister and family so that may have also led to me not stressing much.
Ah weddings so needless to say it’s been a few hectic day around these parts.
Yesterday these happened and the look AMAZING!
Today there is no workout….unless you count the sprint clean up of my house this morning And the mad dash it will be to get everyone to the rehearsal dinner in one piece and on time.
Yesterday I also got my sweet Birchbox Surprise! Earlier in the month Birchbox had sent out an email allowing you to opt in for a very special Goop themed box. If you aren’t familiar with Goop it’s a website created by Gewyneth Paltrow to highlight her pretentious self and all that she is. I can’t help it though, there is a part of me that digs the recipes and finds of the site. My good friend Brigette turned me on to it many years ago and I just can’t stop looking at it. I’ve been known to chuckle at it and I might own a cookbook or two from it. Although I’m warning you if you are new to it, be ready for HOLY pretentiousness. Since my Birchbox usually always ROCKS I opted INto Goop without a second hesitation.
Sadly I think I made a huge mistake. As I’m seeing the regular sample box and reviewing my Goop box….it’s confirmed for me goop not only sounds a lot like poop, it has similarities.
The Box Contained:
- Chantecaille Gloss
- DDF Wrinkle Resist Plus Pore Minizer
- Marie Veronique Organics Anti-Aging Oil
- Lifestyle Extra Luna: Lemon Zest
This is honestly the first time I’ve gotten a box that I didn’t feel like I was getting my moneys worth, if that’s even possible for $10! I have Luna Bars I adore them I buy them all the time they aren’t crazy expensive and they hit the spot after many a workout and hunger crisis. They were the EXTRA in this box and I think the only thing I’m remotely excited about.
The Anti-aging stuff was for me kind of blah. While I love anti-aging products a sample for me doesn’t usually give me enough to tell if it is actually working. Plus 2 anti-aging samples in one box for me was a little overkill.
The Chantecaille Brilliant Gloss is pretty but a little too PINK for my taste. I’m fine with a hued gloss but when they are seriously PINK I start to feel a little like a 5-year-old with my caboodle of makeup that is just pink and shiny for no reason.
The beautyblender could be an acne nightmare waiting to happen. And since I’m already prone to breakouts for me this blender will be a one time only use. Also I’m hearing that others who got them got them MONTHS ago in their boxes? Melissa from Treats with a Twist and I were joking that we never know if it’s ok to use a sponge or not. Some say yes and others say no. Thoughts?
Honestly I’m feeling a little Debbie Downer about this box. I really tried to like it but I’m having buyers remorse. Next time they offer a super special special box I’m going to pass.
So I’m interested in hearing for you! Did you get a regular birchbox this month? What was in it?
