It’s Almost Game Time

There is nothing worse than being SICK the week of a race you have planned and trained for. For me the race is Sunday the Mountain Goat 10 miler. So of course Monday I was met with the MOST amazing sinus infection I’ve had in years. Perfect timing. Blah. I’ve been fighting it.

I bought the good doctor drugs, you know the kind you have to show ID for, and have been hitting the tea and liquids hard.

Sadly today is Thursday and my ears are still ringing. My face still feels like a balloon about to pop and even worse my oldest is home sick from school today too. There will be NO rest for me today. I’m determined to run on Sunday. I need to run on Sunday. I’ve got something to prove to this race and I can’t let another 12 months go by before I do it.

The last time I ran this race was in 2011. Just for a little extra push I decided to look up my time from that race.

Distance: 10 miles                      Time 2:11:35

Hopefully the good news for me is I ran 10.5 miles on Sunday in 1:51 minutes so I’m pretty sure I can PR this race. Plus Sunday I was running alone. I’m one of those runners where I like the excitement of the race to push harder than I normally would.

I think  secretly I’m setting my brain up to kick this cold to the curb. Looking at that time next to my name just made me want this race even more.

It also gave me a little perk of energy to tackle the 500 projects I need to get done.  But first some snacks were in order.  I received a nature box with my affiliation with PopSugar and I must say these are delicious.

Don’t mind the stacks of paperwork taking over my desk it’s invoice day! 😉  Nature box.jpg

I also played around with my new vegetable noodle maker! I can’t wait to see how these taste.

And of course the extra energy made me want to try a quick non-running workout so I grabbed the weights and played around with some ideas for my classes. The leg lifts with weight were especially fun:

Leg Lifts - Abs.jpg

To try this move,  keep your shoulders on the ground and lift and lower your legs. Don’t fall into the back but make the abs do the work to lift and lower the legs. Remember to breathe. Enjoy!

Other than that it’s ALMOST game time!

My last push till SUNDAY and I can’t wait… cold or no cold to kick the Mountain Goat’s BUTT!

Question of the day: What is your best home remedy to kick a cold?

Oh no!! I feel like illness always falls right before a race. I blame tapering. I hope you feel good on the day and it looks like you’re about to crush that PR!! woo hoooo!!!

I’m going to blame the taper too! Thank you!

Hope you feel better!
Lots and lots of water and tea.
(I’ll be interested in knowing the spriralizer you got–I want to buy one in time for summer produce.)

Nicole, I got the cheapest spiralizer on Amazon! I think it was $34, so far I like it but it does seem a bit flimsy. I just wanted to make sure I liked it and would use it before I invested in a more expensive one. SO far so good though. I’m going to try sweet potatoes this week that should be the ultimate test of durability.

Oh no, sorry to hear you didnt feel well my friend. The world has a funny way of working sometimes. I am sure with a few days rest and some good medication you will be feeling a little better! Hang in there, and if you dont feel better, just enjoy it! There will ALWAYS be another race :)
