Even though this week marked the first day of fall the summer like weather made it difficult to get into any fall activities. Something about sweating while picking out pumpkins and drinking cider makes me want to wait for cooler fall temps.
And since I’ve been doing pretty little in the way of working out, running, or cooking, I thought instead I could share with you some fun house projects we’ve been working on.
We spent sometime re-doing the landscaping by the road:
Much better than our sad shrubs that looked lonely.
And this weekend in the heat of summer we decided to tackle replacing an exterior door and make a new house number sign!
The new door was a welcomed addition:
I couldn’t even take a picture of the rocking storm door that was here before, I feel better already with this baby in place. Although placing it was tiring! Who needs a workout when you can hold the door in place for 35 minutes?
I’ve literally been pinning these house number signs *forever*, I like all of the designs and was having a hard time choosing which one I really wanted to build. Based on our house color and space available we finally decided that the barn wood style was the sign for us!
Also important note you can use a 9 or 6 for a 6… who knew?
This isn’t hung yet but at least it’s complete and ready to be placed. We plan to replace all the lighting fixtures too. So I’m trying to decide if that should be done before putting up the sign… probably right?
We had a great meeting with a friend to discuss design ideas for a few spaces in our house. I was actually banging my head against the wall for the longest time on design ideas. I thought after living here for a few months I would suddenly wake up and think OH I know what I want this room to be…but alas it wasn’t happening.
My issue has been I’m not sure what my style is….while I like elements of the “farmhouse fad” that’s popular right now …some parts I don’t love it all. The simplicity is what draws me in but the kitch isn’t my thing.
This I like:
But this just gives me a migraine:
It’s been a hard path to navigate. But we have some great ideas brewing and hopefully with any luck we will have a sweet space in no time flat! I promise, I keep teasing pictures of the space but honestly right now there are no design elements so as soon as we are done…full pictures!
On a bright note my super talented husband built me this table after work…which is a start to our new interior design!
So much work so little time…and thank the lord for pinterest…everyday I’m pinning… seriously everyday.
Question of the Day: Are you a fan of farm house or no?
