This weekend I had the pleasure of attending the Healthy Living Summit in Cambridge, MA. I was really hoping to connect with other bloggers from across the country who write about topic similar to mine. And luckily for me I did just that!

After my amazing 5+ hour drive to Boston I was thrilled to get checked in. And to my WONDERFUL surprise all of these goodies AND Reebok provided us all with a brand new pair of RealFlex Fusion sneakers. I originally got pink but was lucky to find another 7 1/2 who wanted to switch! I already have pink sneakers and how many PINK pairs can a girl have?
I adore the gray and blue with a hint of green! I can’t wait to get my sweat on in them. After checking in and finding my roomie the fabulous Laura from JoyfulShimmy. We were off to check out the sponsor booths and meet more bloggers!
The first night kicked off with a cocktail party sponsored by Rebootizer. Not familiar with the brand? Neither was I but the concept is different. The pouch is squeeze activated and once drank helps your body recover and fight free radicals! After a quick demonstration from the helpful staff it was no longer a mystery. Staff at the booth explained it was great for after workouts, and after a night of drinking. While I didn’t try mine many Blends (Blogger Friends) said they tried theirs and liked it. I’m saving mine for some weddings I’ve got coming up 😉 The shades they gave us may also come in handy at said wedding!
The next morning Wild Harvest treated us to an amazing breakfast! Including the winner of the Wild Harvest breakfast challenge. As some of you may remember my recipe. Although I didn’t win I like to think my recipe wasn’t too far off from the winner haha! I’m kidding.
Congratulations to Winner: Kelly! The winning recipe was part of the morning breakfast, and it was delish!
After breakfast was a series of breakout sessions to learn more about different facets of this crazy world of blogging. I really liked some sessions I attended and was scared by a few others. There were some very informational panels on taking great pictures, blogging with brands, hosting a virtual challenge and social media trends.
Caution I’m about to get all MOM and critical over here:
I think being older, married, and having children I’m slightly more aware of when 22-29 year old’s make outrageously incorrect claims to a room for 75 people what the consequences of those actions may be. On more than one occasion I felt the need to interject that just because you know how to use twitter/facebook does not make you a professional. There are RULES and POLICIES that need to be in place especially when you are dealing with businesses within health/healthcare. HIPPA wasn’t mentioned once and I cringed the entire time. Part of being a blogger in my opinion is being accountable and that was one theme I didn’t hear as much of as I would like. There was a lot of be yourself and stay true but not much “consider when you post your readers may need to know that every person is different and everybody type is different” I understand this is the internet and the great unknown but you still have a responsibility you can’t pretend you publish in a bubble.
Moving on…Huge thank you’s to CheriBundi for the case of juice I won and to healthy family for my prize pack I won from them! I think I was one of the few mommy’s at the event, so winning a prize pack for the boys made me a #1 mom when I got home
Reebok hosted a Cross-Fit Workout that was AMAZING. They brought it their trainers and gave our legs and butts a serious workout. My legs three days later are still sore! I can see why people get hooked on Cross Fit. Our work out was 5 minutes long! Yes you read that correctly F-I-V-E Minutes. We worked on a combination of squats (7) followed by ceiling jumps (15). The whole work out was this set as many times as you could in five minutes with proper form. I honestly have no idea how many I did in that time. About the 8th set I started to drift into la-la land. My after shot!
After a busy day the roomie and I headed to Harvard Square for some eats! I had a HUGE burger and a white ale. It hit the spot perfectly and I would be lying if I said I didn’t finish the whole plate. Burgers are the one thing I rarely cook at home so when we go out it’s my go to!
The next morning we woke up for a quick 5K run by the river. It was a little gloomy but very pretty. I also love the looks you get when running in a group through a neighborhood 😉
It was a wonderful weekend filled with lots of memories, new Blends and fun. I hope to attend again in 2013! Thank you so much to all the great sponsors and planners of the event!Especially these three ladies for making it happen Julie Heather and Meghann.
Of all the Conferences you’ve attended which one is your favorite?
I would have to say Internet Week NY has always been one of my favorites. And I can’t wait to someday attend SxSW and maybe blogher. I’m working my way up to the bigger ones. 😉
