In a weeks time I will be taking the ride to the Warrior Dash. I can’t believe it’s here already. It seems like I was just signing up for this. Mind you I signed up for this race almost 7 months ago. CRaZiNesS!
This is my first Warrior Dash! I’ve run knock of races to this one such as the Mountain race series back in April. So I think I’ve got it covered (?) but to be extra sure I’ve been adding in some hill sprints to my workouts over the past few months. Especially in over these last two weeks.
My rule was I wasn’t timing them. Just taking them at a slow pace and pushing through. Well folks today the un-timed phase ended.
After my hour-long spin class, my mother-in-law offered to watch my boys for an hour. LOVE her! It was NOW or Never time. Plus my legs were already tired from spin so it could help mimic race day.
Enter MY Hill…This bitch (endearing term I call her) is on my regular run route at about the 2 mile mark.
She (the hill) is no joke. Super steep…she is ski hill material.
Today I ran this sucker up and down 5… yes FIVE times…to quote chefkatelyn I was in BEASTMODE.
In all honest my last time up was a pathetic run/walk. I was
dying pooped. and fearful of passing out.
But even still that was 1.5 miles of a HILL! I completed it all in 16 minutes again unheard of for me!
I’m having a pretty great workout day. My legs hate me and my abs are crying. There isn’t a better feeling in the world than well deserved sweat.
