Around this time of year many people start to make resolutions! (eck! I hate that word) I can remember in my teen and college years writing myself a letter each December 31st of all the crap I wanted to accomplish before the next December 31st. I still have a lot of those letters and they make me chuckle. I wanted some high school swim records (done!) I wanted a 4.0 (done!) I wanted to dye my hair really blonde and be crazy tan for Spring break ( I’m sure I accomplished this it just made me laugh!) There were also tons of other hilarious things like cancelling my Instant messenger, loosing 40 pounds and learning to code. Oh instant messenger how did we survive without your enormousness and weird sounds.
Now I would say that I’m roughly an adult. I reached 31 glorious years of age in 2012 and I’ve got two little people I’m trying to raise to be adults so it’s time to refer to myself as one. This year my first act as an adult is to make goals for 2013 not resolutions.
Some of you may follow me on twitter (@cusecomm) and saw the news that I am officially signed up for #13for2013
- 13 half marathons by December 31st 2013. These will be a combination of real races and virtual races. What scared me most is one month there will need to be TWO! I’m committed this year to following a training plan. In the past few half’s I’ve run I basically ran a bunch of miles before hand and made sure to run a 15 miler about 2 weeks before and called it a day. That is NOT training my friends and also probably why all my times suck, my body wasn’t ready. So I’m on the hunt for a great training program if you know of any 😉 First Race Up: a virtual run at the end of January!
I’m also making some pretty serious non-fitness related goals. I’m already a coupon queen but I want to get serious about the savings and what I am doing with them.
- Set up a “savings” account. This account would be different from our family savings account. Right now in our budgets whatever I don’t spend on the item list, I simply spend somewhere else. I want to get serious now about putting that money away and towards something. Our boys are getting old enough now that maybe a family trip is in order? Although I feel like Troy and I would have very different ideas about what that trip would be. I see sandy beaches and he would pick Gettysburg.
I know two goals isn’t really life altering but those are mine and I hope that by Dec 31st to have put a nice check mark next to them both!
It’s a NEW year so I kicked of my breakfast with some magical whimsy!
I’m breaking all the rules by drinking coffee from my new tea-cup but what can I say I’m up for some rule breaking today 😉 My breakfast is a favorite here on the blog english muffin, cottage cheese and jelly.
There might be some yoga in my future, but I’m mostly spending today recovering and relaxing with my boys…I can’t think of a better way to kick off a new year than with some family time.
ALSO CONGRATULATIONS TO KIM G. For winning two entries to The Girlnetic Jumpstart to Fitness 2013! I have given them your contact information and they should be getting in contact with you soon! Thanks to all who entered.
Question of the Day: How are you kicking off 2013?
