Greetings! It’s been a bumper of a week kids, there was an eclipse which has been playing with my mind and there was even some enlightening moments! Settle in this might get long, the wordy shipmate has arrived.
I finally made it to yoga… it’s been a while and I usually opt for the crazy hot flow yogas but for whatever reason ended up at gentle yoga class. Sometimes I think the universe points us towards things without our knowledge and this was one of those moments.
The instructor talked about the energy in the universe and how the eclipse makes for the perfect time to goal set and get in touch with grounding, and jump into new challenges with lots of extra energy. It was everything I needed to hear. Sometimes I’m fairly certain yoga is more therapy for me than physical exertion. I need the guidance and mind portion of the practice.
I’m also in the middle of Jen Sincero’s You Are a Badass book so I’m sensitive to the way the things I do daily are making me feel. I’m working towards more of the things that make me truly happy. I even made a list of all the things that make my soul smile and make me feel connected. It went like this: family, friends, working out, boxing, running, yoga, cooking, teaching fitness classes, a morning coffee alone, a hot shower… in that order.
But reflected a pretty big light on the things that didn’t even make my list of happiness, have been getting a lot of my energy and focus lately. And in order to spin myself back to normal human being I need to get my ass in gear. Funny how that works, we all need a good ass kick and the only person who can truly deliver that is the person who needs the ass kick….oh universe you sneaky little devil.
One of my new find for adding health to my life without turning into a loony tune has been a morning cup of Kiwami Greens Matcha Plus powder. I used to use matcha all the time back in my more healthy days but recently it’s been pretty off the list of my daily DOs.
It’s a simple way to make a healthier choice for my body and make sure I’m giving it all the nutrients it needs to be my best self. So I can start to make all the things on my happy list a larger priority in my life.
Kiwami Greens in easy to use packets help me give my body all the vegetables I need, let’s be honest it’s a rare day when I’m actually getting everything I need. Donuts aren’t packing many veggies these days!
But my yoga adventure also gave me back some courage to make things happen that I’ve been putting off. I need to get back to a regular workout routine…this hey when I have time stuff isn’t working. So I signed up for a fall 12 week program and am making the commitment to put myself back focus. It’s an early class and should fit into my schedule pretty well, it’s an easy change to make but one I’ve been avoiding for weeks.
Small changes to everyday behavior are usually the best way to steer myself back on course. When I make over the top changes my brain can’t accept it and makes every attempt to eliminate the new system. So smaller steps back to a more normal and balanced self are leading my way right now.
I’m making a few simple and easy to do changes:
- Workouts before work
- Kiwami Greens
- More sleep
- Spend 5 minutes a day alone in quiet (easier said than done!)
- More cooking
- Less worry, more fun!
- More water
I’m hoping that the joy of coming back to a schedule with school starting, the new morning workouts and these simple changes to my overall day will guide me to be healthier without me losing my mind over it.
Sure, I might be a little ambitious here but I’m hopeful…also I’m pulling hard on that eclipse energy to help me out!
Question of the day: Do you like matcha? What are your goals for back to school? Do you make small changes or big ones?
