The weekend I have been dreaming about is finally here! We are leaving today for our couples weekend away…..ooohhhhh Ahhhh! Since the day this was set up I have been looking forward to the break. The kids are staying with my mother-in-law and sister-in-law so they are even more excited than my husband and I about us going out-of-town. So everyone in this family is having a special weekend.
You know you’re looking forward to a great weekend when the planning email includes this image…which made me snort upon opening it.
Apparently there is NO party like a small furry animal party! If this offends you I’m sorry, it brings me a funny smirk and that’s enough for me. My giddy-ness about the weekend is starting to show 😉
Last week I had a request to show you what my favorite running outfit currently is from head to toe. I’ve been in a pretty solid groove when it comes to gear lately so I have no troubles sharing my love for a few products.
Gear is always hard for me especially for running. I need a solid, dependable bottom but I also some coverage. I want a killer sports bra because my ladies deserve the best. And for tops I need something pretty, breathable and not too short. I’m all about coverage. I know there are super in shape ladies out there who can rock just a sports bra and look amazing doing it but I am not them.
In fact I have one race photo where my belly made it’s own appearance, and the image has scared me for life. now I just want a long shirt so even if I pull it while running it will still cover my middle.
So currently my favorite outfit looks like this, disregard my face of course I took this after working out! I never remember to do it before.
It looks like the hamburgler you say? Yes, yes it does and I love it. Disregard the green bra since that is not a current favorite it was just on for yoga after.
I have been singing the praises of Athleta lately and I can’t get enough. These bright pink pants (Relay Capri) are not only a great blast of color they are also extremely comfortable and stay in place. I now own them in 4 different colors, a black, a sandstorm, this pink and a purple. Since most of my running tops are a solid color these work great and go with everything. And they are on sale right now 😉
For tops I just got this stripped shirt from the new GapFit line. It’s long and I’m tall so it works. I should also mention I got this top for $10 at the Gap Outlet Store. I like it because it’s light and the pattern is fun. I will warn you though with the stripes from some angles it isn’t always flattering. I like when I catch a glimpse of myself in the mirror while teaching and am like WHOA! But I still love the top. It’s loose under the armpits and doesn’t rub.
The MOST important part of any outfit for me and my rather large cans is a quality sports bra. It’s the one place if I’m going to get nuts and spend some serious money this is what I spend it on. Sports bras are tough I need HIGH support but nothing that is constricting. Those are almost opposites in the world of sports bras. I’ve shared that I don’t really love lululemon I get it is some kind of status symbol or whatever but the clothes just don’t work for me. I will however say this sports bra I picked up there a few months back has become a favorite in my collection:
It’s supported and keeps my ladies happy. That’s really what it’s all about so. While their clothing is a NO Go for me, their sports bras can stay on my yes list.
I’m also a HUGE fan of Under Armour Bras, in my collection I own about 8 of them from UA and swear by the support and quality. I adore the women’s Heatgear Sonic Bra. I have 5 of this bra alone, (the green one from the picture above) that needs to be retired. Sad day
For sneakers I’m splitting my time between my Saucony Kinvara 4’s and Mizuno wave rider 17. Shown are my Saucony’s.
And currently for rocking socks I’ve been using my Reeboks. I’m not sure they are anything special for running, but they do have elastic right around the center of the foot to keep the sock in place through all sorts of terrain. They also have some breathing material so I find my feet aren’t overheating on longer runs.
So there you have it my current favorites for running from head to toe!
Question of the Day: What is your favorite running outfit currently?
