This week has been a week of firsts! Today is my oldest little man’s first day of 1st grade! To help him celebrate his little brother trying to be helpful gave him his own interpretive dance. This photo is one I am 100% sure I will be showing to future girlfriends and for moments of sweet embarrassment.
It perfectly highlights my children’s personalities. R is brave and strong and B is a FULL on ham. While I’m sad to know they will both be in school this year, I’m excited for a little structure after the summer of unscheduled madness.
It was also a week of firsts for mommy! I taught my first Rise and Sculpt boot camp class Tuesday morning! I think it went really well, I hope the class agrees. I’m getting more and more into this fitness instructor stuff and can see how it becomes addicting. I’ve read more in the past month than I think I have in YEARS! I’ve got my first Kickboxing class coming up later on this week as well!
The funny part of jumping from student to instructor has been thinking about all of the different instructors I’ve had over the years. What I like, what I don’t like and trying to emulate the ones I most enjoyed.
I’m my own worst critic but seriously….. I need to get worse with silence. A great instructor is constantly giving cues, instructions and funny quips. I’m a pretty Chatty Cathy normally but I seem to freeze up a bit when teaching. It’s time to channel my inner miss congeniality and get down right cheerleader! Or at least be the best WOO girl I can be 😉
What is your favorite part about a good instructor?
I’m finding great music is important to EVERY class. Here are some of my new finds that I’m rocking my classes out to:
Regina Spektor- You’ve Got Time
Taylor Swift – Red (Yes I’ll admit it!)
Imagine dragons – On top of The World (thanks Nicole for the lead on this!)
Back to school also means a chance to get my eating habits back up to par! To help with that adventure I joined Powercakes #Powerchallenge for September.
Thus far I’ve had a few winning bowls, hopefully I can keep the momentum for the month.
Questions of the Day: Favorite and Least Favorite attributes of a good class instructor? What are you up to this week?
