It’s all about having Klout! If you are using social media for your blog or business a useful tool you may not be using is Klout. Klout is a program that measures your influence on topics and overall effectiveness in social media. Although its reporting may not be 100% accurate it is a good indicator of what you are doing in social media. The higher your score the more influence to you have, the lower means you’ve got some things to work on.
You get one overall score and a title of your influence style. I am a specialist I have a concentration and people know what to expect. It also gives you a list of topics it believes you are influential about. My topics include Facebook and community management. It’s not always 100% correct for a while a topic of mine was Spain (?) I’ve never been and rarely talk about it but they are working out the kinks.
Klout is also great for connecting and finding people who are influential about topics you are interested in. Sign up for an account and search for various topics and you can digitally “meet” people who have influence in those areas. For example looking for some new mommy bloggers on twitter use the topics pages to find others who have influence in those areas, follow them and in no time you will see their network will open you up to even more people with this similar interest.
The greatest part I think about Klout is the perks program. For users who have influence in particular topics, businesses offer up perks (free samples, discounts, gift cards) to you in the hopes of you sampling their product and offering feed back to your following. It just so happens my latest perk is pretty awesome!
Simple Skincare is a facial skincare line that is Very popular across the pond. And is making way for a US invasion. As a influencer of folks in general with a Klout score over 50 I was offered a sample of their facial cleaning wipes and replenishing moisturizer. I have to say I have been getting perks for a while now and most send sample sizes, this was the first company to send me a full size product (bonus!) I have super sensitive skin, something about my Irish pasty white potato eating skin might have something to do with that. The sun and I work in a delicate balance.
This weekend after a long Saturday I decided to try the facial wipes. As a Cetaphil devote I wasn’t sure how these were going to work. I was pleasantly surprised to find my skin didn’t turn it’s usual 30 shades of red after using it. It didn’t have a strong odor like some wipes I’ve tried in the past. Sunday morning I was even more excited to see my skin wasn’t as dried out as usual, the moisturizer works!
In full disclosure I obviously was compensated by Simple/Klout in products for this review but that does not affect my opinion of the products. If I didn’t like it you would be the firs to know!
In fact I have actually purchased another pouch of the wipes to keep in my gym bag for after workouts. That is when my face needs some extra attention. I would highly recommend Simple Skincare Solutions to anyone with sensitive skin.
Do you use Klout? What is the best Perk you have received? Ever gotten a bad perk from Klout?
