I have a lot of ENERGY. I like to run, I like to jump and occasionally you can even find me belting out a random show tune for complete strangers. But these bursts of energy have become a little less in frequent in recent years. The funny thing about children is they tend to take up a lot of energy. I’m not complaining at all about that. I love my kids dearly but it has its moments. Sometimes I really want to run 10 miles but know that my parental duties can’t be put off or in a hold pattern. No instead my life is a marathon, a constant jog to keep up with the joys of rearing children.
When I opened my Shape magazine last month, I laughed out loud at this ad for Designer Whey Sustained Energy and even posted a picture to instagram because it is my life! Well only I have a child hanging off each leg.
And it’s true my life doesn’t have an off-season. I wake up early, work hard, I eat right and then I workout hard. But it’s what I do in between those moments that are most important. I’m raising future adults. It’s a ton of fun and wonderful moments but it is also A LOT of work. And it’s work that if you aren’t a parent you might not even realize is going on. After having my own children there are many days when I consider calling my own mother and just letting her know I appreciate everything she did for me. Some days mustering up the energy to answer four million Why? questions is seriously more than I have to offer. On those days I will take any extra energy I can get. Over the past month I’ve been enjoying an after AM workout smoothie, that helps me POWER through the rest of my day. I know my children aren’t slowing down anytime soon. And nap times around here are a thing of the past. The new sustained energy helps me be super mom through lacrosse practice followed by play dates, followed by reading hour, followed by tag, followed by the 30th why question of the day and right back through evening hockey games.

My morning after workout smoothie is a mix of bananas, almond milk and butter, Designer Whey Sustained Energy Chocolate Velvet and chia seeds.
Chocolate Almond Butter Smoothie:
1 Scoop of Designer Whey Sustained Energy Chocolate Velvet
2 tablespoons almond butter
1 teaspoon chia seeds
8 ounces of almond milk
