Whole 30 is kicking my butt today, I’m 3 days in and pretty sure I was dreaming about food last night! Craziness! Coupled with a day of meetings back to back to back with an evening full of CPR fun. I am wiped out.
So let’s laugh about saving someone’s life with CPR….OK it’s really no joking matter and knock on wood in all my years I’ve never had to perform it on a real human, but there are moments when it can be hilarious.
The last time I updated my CPR was probably 2004-ish and a lot has changed since those days. No breaths before compressions WHAT?! I was all sorts of nervous to be taking this class. When I arrived and there was just one other person in the class, I was excited and yet even more nervous. That’s not nearly enough of a crowd to hide in when you don’t know the answers.
Funny how some things just come back to you. After a few minutes I started remembering all those first aid and CPR items from my lifeguarding days so long ago! And had a weird thought that maybe I should update my lifeguarding again as well? Ah but one thing at a time.
The videos….can we talk about the Videos?! WHO on Earth does the casting of these things? I’ve seen better actors trying to get a free bag of popcorn at the movies. I mean seriously? It must be a low paying gig because most of the “acting” is just horrible. My personal favorite was the man who simply put food in his mouth and choked…he didn’t even chew yet HOW is he CHOKING?
Maybe the designers had a sense of humor and knew if you were going to sit through 6 hours of boring videos you might as well get to chuckle a little along the way.
Well I’m happy to report after laughing at videos and blowing into dummies for a few, I’m the proud new owner of my own updated CPR card.
I only missed one question on the final test so I guess I remembered and learned much more than I thought I would.
Questions of the day: Are you CPR certified? Training Videos, do they always have bad actors?
