Ok…Deep breath….whole 30 is a GO! For August I’ve recommitted myself another round of #whole30, I need the reset, and it’s perfect for a back to school pick me up. It’s been less than 24 hours (so I started a day early because our plans to be out of town were cancelled due to weather so I thought…why not?) and I’m crashing hard for anything that smells like sugar. I knew I had a problem but didn’t realize how bad I would feel after just one day. It hasn’t even been a day more like 12 hours.
I’m hoping this delicious CHUNKY MONKEY breakfast bowl will help curb my sugar cravings and provide me needed whole food nutrients.
The first few days of whole30 are the worst your body still craves sugar while your mind tries to stay strong. I just tend to feel SUPER tired. And that’s how I’m feeling.
For people who don’t love eggs this also offers an option for breakfast that is quick and can be taken to go. It’s also dairy, soy and gluten free!
Chunk Monkey Breakfast Bowl:
- 1 banana sliced
- 6 cashews
- 6 almonds
- 1 pitted date
- 1 tablespoon almond butter
- 1 pinch of chia seeds
- Begin by adding your nuts and date to the food processor and slice.
- Add banana to your bowl, top with the nuts mixture add almond butter and chia. Enjoy!
You could always add some coconut flakes to this, if you’re into that kind of thing. If you’re not completing whole 30 you could also add some chocolate.
I like this as a special treat breakfast, when completing #whole30 the entire point is to remove food that doesn’t meet the high food standards. While this meal is a fantastic treat meal, it probably shouldn’t be consumed daily since there are better options for breakfast. BUT it is delicious!

And this is probably how the month of August will play out, lots of #whole30 recipes and workouts along with back to school and last minute end of summer vacation things. I’ve been making my own workout plans to get my rear back in the gym more than once a week.
Question of the Day: What are your August Goals?
