**Disclaimer: I was provided a gift certificate from Bonefish Grill, all opinions, gushes of love and reflections are my own.**
Last night Troy and I headed out for something we rarely do…a DATE night without kids! It was so needed and a great way to recharge our batteries without having to man handle two little guys who love to tour restaurants while eating. I can’t blame them who doesn’t like to explore new places? My only issue is when exploring happens while my food is getting cold. So I welcomed the change of our usual dinner out pace.
When Michelle reached out and asked if I would be interested in trying out the Bonefish Grill in Fayetteville, I was immediately all in. I have heard that it’s a fantastic restaurant. Every person I’ve ever heard talk about it mentions the Bang Bang Shrimp. It didn’t take me much convincing to get Troy on board I just read him the menu. Seriously one direct line to my husband’s heart is seafood. Lobster, scallops and clam chowder make his heart flutter.
We arrived and gave our name and headed to the bar while we waited for our table. I’m always a big fan of people watching the other dinners in a new restaurant. I like to see a few things, what the people are eating, drinking and what the general happiness level appears to be. Everyone here looked ecstatic, that’s always a good sign.
As soon as we got our drinks our beeper buzzed and it was time to be seated. Our hostess sat us at a table to which my husband jokingly said “can we get a booth instead?” The poor girl looked like she had seen ghost and said she would check and see if one was available. At this point Troy assured her, he was kidding and a table was fine. We were both shocked when a few minutes later another hostess arrived to move us to the booth we had requested. While I felt horrible for causing them to fuss on our account, I was also really impressed by the gesture. We ended up staying at our table since it was perfect for the two of us.
Our waitress arrived a few seconds later and was delightful. She asked if we had been before, we hadn’t, and she gave us recommendations of orders. One thing we KNEW we were starting out with an appetizer of Bang Bang Shrimp. Recently the Syracuse New Times readers named Bonefish Grill the best appetizers in Syracuse and TRUST ME they KNOW what they are talking about.
OH Bang Bang Shrimp you are amazing!!
My husband’s reaction was priceless one bite and he was addicted!
When we ordered I was torn between a menu item and a special. Our waitress made an excellent point the specials might not be available the next time we came but the menu item would be there! GENIUS! I ended up ordering the special Spinach Bacon Gorgonzola Salmon (Salmon topped with sauteed spinach, crisp bacon and creamy Gorgonzola cheese) and Troy ordered the Lobster and Steak Duet.
They were both delicious!
I loved that the cheese and bacon didn’t overpower the salmon.
I can not say enough good, great or fantastic things about Bonefish Grill. While I was thinking about how great the service food and atmosphere were, Troy actually said out loud “this is the best restaurant I’ve been to in a long time”, I couldn’t agree more. It was a busy Friday night every table was full, with more waiting to be seated and yet it really felt like we were the only people in the restaurant.
At one point Troy got up to use the bathroom and happened upon the kitchen. When we returned he said they have a whole row of sriracha back there! I recently introduced him to the deliciousness that is sriracha and our waitress ended up sharing with us her whole experience with it. Then we swapped recipes for breakfast sandwiches. (Troy and I believe we make the world’s best breakfast sandwiches, they contain Jalapeno, sriracha, sausage and TWO eggs on an English muffin.) I again was astounded by her service, she was friendly, warm and very personable.
Once we finished our meal we had a chance to chat with the Manager Scott Gilett. We gushed for a few minutes about how much we LOVED everything and he went on to tell us all about their Tuesday night specials, as well as the Wednesday night Bang Bang Shrimp special. $6 for Bang Bang Shrimp every Wednesday from 4pm-close!
Again I’m gushing but it’s rare when we go to a restaurant and don’t have a single offer of improvement or suggestion. We were both blown away by Bonefish Grill and can’t wait to return and bring friends! Thanks to Bonefish for being the perfect place to enjoy our date night.
AND Bonefish Grill was also kind enough to offer one of my lucky readers a $50 gift certificate! Leave me a blog comment and let me know who you want to take to dinner, this is MANDITORY to enter and you can get additional entries below. Good Luck to ALL. I will announce a winner on Thursday!
Question of the day: Have you been to a Bonefish Grill? Bang Bang shrimp greatest app of all time…agree or disagree?
