I’m not sure why but the above song has been stuck in my head today and has been reminding me to get runnin’ runnin’ so that I did:
I’m a BIG fan of AM workouts. This hasn’t always been the case but as I’ve aged so to has my love for mornings. Working out in the morning just seems to set up my whole day for success. I’m not stressed out thinking about fitting it in for the rest of the day. It’s done and off the to-do list. Although sometimes getting motivation to do a “great” workout early is difficult it still feels great when its done.
I like to wake up have some coffee followed by a few minutes of me time. Then move something! Last night was a great #fitfluential twitter chat all about the holidays, overeating and working out co-hosted by Reebok correctly hashtagged #getafterit. It was really inspiring! I also got to chat with some super new twitter folks and bloggers. And really think about what I do in the winter months different than the summer months.
The holidays are a rough time on routines. With all the extra events, spirits and desserts it’s easy to get carried away. I’m sharing with you today my 2012 Holiday Motto: “Workout Early, Workout Often”
Putting my workout in first thing in the morning guarantees it happens! My schedule can’t shift and a time crunch can’t bump it out. Plus a recent study supports that working out earlier in the day may help suppress appetite. http://vsb.li/CebJcR
During this holiday season my goal is for MORE morning workouts and then maybe even a quick evening session if I have the time. And I encourage you to join me!
I like to workout up a sweat before my morning shower. Granted some mornings are earlier than others. On my younger sons school days my morning workout might not happen till 9am but it’s still early enough to be in before the day gets crazy!
It’s easy to let days get away from you. Between school pick ups and drop offs, work commitments, and 500 other things that can go wrong on a daily basis it’s important to remember to put yourself first. Even just FIRST thing in the morning with a great workout.
Question of the Day: What are your goals for this holiday season?
