This wasn’t one of those days where you roll out of bed and just have a gut feeling it is going to be a great day. No today was more like a roll out of bed because now that your older it is impossible to sleep in past 7am… you get up and make yourself some coffee, this is usually followed by turning on the morning news. I knew today the news I couldn’t stomach for more than 2 minutes. So instead I left it off. I have a kindergartener, I have absolutely no idea how to handle my emotions about what went on yesterday. And I REFUSE to give ANY of my attention to someone who should be forgotten as quickly as possible. My thoughts and prayers go out to all innocent who were effected yesterday. My babies have been getting extras hugs, cuddles, and, kisses!
I have a background in news, it was my college major and what I “thought” I wanted to do forever. Say what you will about the 24 hour news cycle and the spread of information. I personally feel that the 24 news cycle is partially to blame for these events. Want these events to stop happening? STOP MAKING THEM FAMOUS AND HOUSEHOLD NAMES FOR MONTHS ON END FOR RATINGS! I want to remember one name from this whole event Victoria Soto who made the ultimate sacrifice and saved her entire classroom from a madman. Put her on the news, maker her the entire story…interview the firemen/police and first responders about their bravery. ***I’m stepping off my soapbox now***
After breakfast and my son’s hockey games this morning, I knew I had to get some miles in. I’m trying to get in 50 this month. And so far so good! Today is the 15th and I have 25.8 on the books. I’m hoping I can keep this up! There are a few small
massive holidays coming up, that might conflict with the training plans.
This was my running outfit today! Can you believe it? It’s DECEMBER 15th in Upstate NY. I’m enjoying the lighter winter weather and trying to brace myself for the fact that this can’t last forever. These are the new Nux pants from the PVBODY Bag.
I hit up the 3.5 miles loop near my house. If you’ve been reading this blog for any amount of time you are aware of my arch nemesis the MASSIVE HILL that I hit on this loop right at mile 2. I’ve struggled with it, I’ve even tried running the loop backwards to avoid the uphill. But like a good nemesis it keeps calling me back to challenge it. 😉
And today was a victory for ME! I’m not the world’s fastest runner but every mile that I clock that’s faster than the last is a win.
Today’s ELF 4 Health Challenge is a donation to a local charity and for me the timing on this couldn’t be better! Tonight we are heading to the Crunch Game and they are having a Teddy Toss! Gently used and new teddy’s are thrown on to the ice during the period break and are all donated to The Salvation Army!
I took my little guys to the store to pick out what they would like to donate. Some lucky little kids are going to get an Angry Birds stuffed bird or a crazy colored pillow pet. I’ll give you a full report tomorrow!
Question of the Day: “Buddy the Elf…. what’s your favorite color?”
