This weekend was one of family, birthdays and memorials. My mom turned the big 5-0!
My parents camp is always the place for a party! My dad also had to show us the new and improved pond that went from 4 feet deep to 10 he’s proud 😉 My dad and I kicked off the excercise for the day by biking back to the camp. My legs were on fire thanks to a quick hill right before the camp.
First up was a family style adventure in the woods! There is nothing more beautiful than a walk in woods in the fall. Aside from freaking out about a snake and getting lost for a hot second it was a great way to ring in my mom’s new decade.
I never thought I would have to use the compass app on my iphone, in fact I’ve often wondered why it’s a standard app. But I have to admit when you are kinda lost in the woods it really does help! Note to self keep heading SouthWest you will come to a road!
After a day of adventures in hiking we went out for a birthday dinner! And my brother surprised my parents by coming home from China for my mom’s big day! It’s been almost 4 months since we’ve seen him in real life, not through skype. It was also fun to hear his stories about China…did you know there is a WAL-MART in China?! I don’t know why I’m so surprised but I was shocked.
Today was more of a sad day as we all began to say goodbye to my grandmother, who passed away earlier this week. It’s always great to get together with family and see old friends I just wish it happened more often under better circumstances. Kiss your loved ones and give everyone an extra hug tonight…. life is short, make the most of each moment you have.
