I love holiday weekends for many reasons. I get to relax with my whole crew. It’s some added rest time for all of us and I especially love when the weekend passes by slowly. We packed the weekend with great friends, food and runs. A girl couldn’t ask for more. And even with all the activities the weekend still seemed long and restful!
Since we didn’t really have any travel plans for the weekend it was fun to just relax and take it some family movie watching. It also helped that it was a balmy 50 degrees out?! And we are overcoming a week of stomach bugs.
I woke up Early Saturday morning and was determined that since I couldn’t make it to my P90X class I was at least going to get in some weights and a run. I didn’t plan on it being 40 degrees! I thought I was going to lose my fingers. I was NOT dresses for the weather. More accurate description: I didn’t know it was going back to FREEZING temperatures.
After a busy Saturday of clean ups and clean outs. Sunday morning rolled around and I got the chance to run a 5K with my best friend in the whole WORLD Amanda. It wasn’t a great racing day for either of us. But we had fun and got in some peaceful girl time on the drive to and from the race!
That afternoon Amanda and her boyfriend hosted us to a fabulous BBQ and bonfire! The food was divine! We had a blast and entertained ourselves with some competitive games of can jam! Even the little boys had fun!
Yummmm I hadn’t had a S’more in YEARS!! This thing was delicious, and hit the spot as the dessert of the evening. I may have overdone it though…sugar is now giving me headaches!
Today was a fabulous morning of sleeping in! Want to make a mom’s day? Give her 2 extra hours of sleep, I’m telling you it’s a game changer 😉 Then we may have introduced our kids to the magic that is Harry Potter. B thought it was amazing a Dragon had the same name as him! It is rather an uncommon name I guess.
My only goal for this weekend was to get these seeds into the ground.
And BOOM! It happened. I also picked up a tomato and sweet pepper plant! We are shaking things up this year. Venturing into unknown territory by planting spaghetti squash and hot peppers! Spaghetti squash has now turned into a VERY popular dinner around here so it made sense to add it to the mix this year. If you have any tips for them let me know. Sadly not making the veggie cut this year: radishes, pumpkins, and sunflowers. Whomp, Whomp. I’m still secretly trying to find brussel sprouts to add…I’ll keep ya posted on that.
After a successful day of cropping, I decided why not get in another 5k? I was on a ROLL and made it a 5K a day for this long weekend. Not that any of them were super fast or that my GPS was working correctly…Apparently there must be a runkeeper update because Saturday and Monday’s runs were the same course yet one was 3.75 miles and one was 3.32? I know for a fact it’s really 3.51….might be time to download the new version, that’s quite a gap!
I’m also in desperate need of a new playlist…and I’m accepting any and all requests! My playlist today actually included the BEP “let’s get it started”. That should be all the indication a person needs that it’s time for a shake up in the music department!
There you have it our family weekend in a nutshell!
Well…… not all of my weekend I’m also watching this:
I’ve been a fan forever and I’m sooo happy it’s back! “There’s always money in the Banana stand.” I’m also super jealous of people who were having a Bluth Party!
Questions of the Day: How was your long weekend? What song is currently your jam for working out?
